Early Pregnancy / Threatened Miscarriage
We confirm whether you are pregnant and the location of the pregnancy, and if there is bleeding or pain, we assess your current condition.
After a positive result, we check gestational age and location.
If a pregnancy test is positive, we discuss when to come in based on your last period and symptoms. Early on, ultrasound may only show a limited range of findings, so if needed we follow the course with blood tests or repeat exams at set intervals.
You can hear an explanation during your visit, review what you need to know, and then decide.

Menstrual and test records
Please tell us the date of your last menstrual period and your cycle, when you saw a positive result, and whether you have abdominal pain or bleeding.
Assessment of pregnancy status
Ultrasound and any needed tests are used to check location and developmental status. If it is hard to judge at one visit, you will be told why a recheck is needed and when.
Daily life and medication counseling
Share your medications, medical conditions, and previous pregnancy history, and confirm the care needed now and the plan for the next visit.
Bleeding does not always mean miscarriage.
If you have been told it is a threatened miscarriage
It may be explained as meaning that there are symptoms that raise concern for miscarriage, such as bleeding, so the current situation and how it progresses need to be watched. Please ask specifically about examination and ultrasound findings and what will be checked going forward.
While monitoring the course
Record changes in the amount of bleeding and pain, and contact us right away if they worsen. Whether rest or medication is advised depends on your condition and the available evidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
If it is not yet visible on ultrasound, is it a miscarriage?
It may still be very early, but a pregnancy whose location has not been confirmed may need further evaluation. Follow the recheck plan set by your clinician, and tell us right away if pain or bleeding occurs.
If the bleeding has stopped, do I still need a follow-up visit?
Changes in symptoms alone do not confirm the status of a pregnancy. Continue with the necessary checks at the follow-up visit you were advised to attend.
